Often we decide to try something different only when things get really uncomfortable and we feel we don't have a choice. We might only seek help when our usual way of coping is no longer working and we feel distressed and unhappy. Even though we want our life to change, we find change difficult. We'd like someone else to change. We'd like someone else to fix our problems. Or, at the very least, we'd like someone else to help.

All the ingredients for change are within us and therapy works by helping to access our existing capabilities to overcome the issues we’re facing. However, doing this alone can feel like an insurmountable challenge while working with a therapist can help us to feel less alone in our struggle for change.
